Who We Are

The Kensington Chelsea Women’s Club (KCWC) is a non-profit, volunteer organization formed to foster friendship and interaction among women of all ages and nationalities living in London. Founded in 1983, we provide opportunities for members to make new friends and experience together so much that London offers.

Many KCWC activities offer a chance to learn about British national heritage and the culture of London. Club trips may visit special art exhibitions or world famous stately homes. We explore new theatre and enjoy local museums. In addition we have numerous programs that focus on the daily activities of living in London – from health and fitness to groups for new and expectant moms. Members can look forward to meeting other women with similar expatriate backgrounds and attending numerous educational, social and creative events.

Our name reflects the fact that the club began with a group of women in Kensington and Chelsea – but we extend our welcome to any interested members, wherever they may live. Our program appeal not only to newcomers but also to those who have lived here for many years.

We now have more that 1200 members from 46 countries and cultures, including native Londoners. Rather than being daunting, we look at this as one of our strengths. It means that there are likely to be others with your particular interests. We make the welcoming of new members a top priority. And best of all, you’ll be involved with other women who understand the transition to living in London.

KCWC Activities

There are usually thirty or more activity areas at any given time, ranging from Golf, Tennis, Bridge, Antiques, Art History, Book Clubs, Cooking, Local Travel, Walking Groups, New and Expectant Mums, Parenting, etc. We also have an activity group for women who work in London. Activities are offered to members on first come, first serve basis.

Activities are run for and by the volunteer members of the KCWC and we are happy to encourage our members to become involved in the on-going activities of the club.

General Meeting

KCWC sponsors a monthly meeting as a gathering place for members. Activity leaders are present to answer questions or to register for upcoming activities. A social hour gives members a chance to meet old and new friends. The General Meeting usually features an interesting speaker or entertaining presentation.

Club Newsletter and Website Communication

A monthly newsletter is mailed to members informing them of the opportunities in KCWC activity groups and general London activities for the month. In addition, there is a section of classified advertising, of special member benefits from participating businesses and information about the next general meeting.

The KCWC website provides information about club activities. It offers an additional resource for members to keep up with what is going on and able to communicate with other members. A club membership number is required for entering the website.

Contributing to Our Community

In addition to our social activities, the KCWC proudly supports local charities in our community. Unique fundraising events are organized each year and the club is proud of the contributions, both financially and in volunteer time, that KCWC and its members make each year. Our Charity Connections group can provide information about volunteer opportunities in the wider community.
