Guest Speaker: Dr Lucy Worsley

on TV Series “If Walls Could Talk”

In this talk Lucy Worsley takes us on a journey through domestic history, exploring developments in the British home from Norman times to the present day. Through quirky and apparently trivial details focusing on social structure, cleanliness, family life and technology, she highlights revolutionary changes in society. Dr Worsley aims to explore what people really did in bed, in the bath, at the table and in the kitchen - leaving no intimate stone unturned. Lucy has recently presented her television series “If Walls Could Talk” on both BBC 2 and BBC 4 and also written a book to accompany the series. “Engaging, delightful and fun are words to describe Lucy's book and they are also words that describe her as a person” stated one review and this is reflected in the enormous popularity of this television series. Exploring the history of British homes could not be a more appropriate subject for KCWC’s annual visit to RGS. text

Dr Lucy Worsley is Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity looking after The Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace State Apartments, the Banqueting House and Kew Palace in Kew Gardens.
