KCWC is fortunate indeed to be able to share in the expertise of renown jewellery expert Geoffrey Munn who may be familiar to many of you from his frequent appearances on the BBC Antiques Roadshow. At the kind invitation of our BADA Trust Friends, we will meet to hear him (their Chairman) to discuss floral imagery and its meanings in gems and jewellery spanning 400 years (1530-1930). Following immediately on from our Cartier lecture, this should be a fascinating insight into how craftsmen chose certain gems fashioning them into particular designs that were a language unto themselves. And with this lecture, we tick the boxes for gem and garden lovers alike!
Geoffrey Munn describes himself as an antiquary, broadcaster and writer. Having begun his career with Wartski which he joined at 19, there could be no better firm in which to hone his specialty knowledge in 19th century jewellery, and especially the work of Russian goldsmith Carl Fabergé. Geoffrey has written several books including a charming memoir, “A Touch of Gold”, wherein he reveals his encounters over five decades at Wartski bejewelling some of the biggest names in the world from the Queen Mother to Frank Sinatra.
Please join us for what will surely be an entertaining and informative lecture. Learn how to “Say it with Flowers” in jewellery!
