Our Blue Badge guide Rachel Kolsky will lead this 2 hours walk to discover this delightful riverside neighbourhood referenced as far back at the Domesday Book and which has retained its village atmosphere with a village pond, numerous pubs and residential villas. The numerous plaques confirm this as an aspirational address with famous, and very varied, past residents
including the ‘Madam’ who founded the Royal Ballet, the composer of the Planets, a refugee from Nazi Europe who wrote about Tigers and Rabbits, the
‘King of Porn’ Rachel’s favourite female author and Corporal Jones of Wilmington Home Guard.
Meeting Place: Outside Barnes Bridge station
Ending Place: Near cafes and shops and Barnes Bridge station and walkable or busable to Hammersmith Bridge
