Bermondsey was once the kitchen of London, specialising in food production; it had the largest biscuit factory in the world, as well as the Hartley’s jam factory. But it was best known for being the centre of England’s leather industry and the stench permeated the area. Today, it has reinvented itself with art galleries, coffee shops and museums. Tim will take you through this vibrant area, exploring its contrasts and pointing out the messages from the past.
We’ll start and finish at London Bridge.
