Charity Lecture: Philanthropy in the East End of London

8 June, 2020 @ 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

The-East-End

Come into the heart of the East End with Tim Potter and support the Wandsworth Foodbank while you are at it!

After the talk on Greenwich on Monday for the next lecture I’m plunging back across the river into the heart of the East End once more. This time we will be looking in much greater detail at how the church, state, philanthropists and the poor themselves tried to improve conditions in the East End. We will be walking down the Whitechapel Road into Stepney and Bow, an area full of character and one of my very favourite walks.

I hope you can join me. Please note I am starting at a slightly earlier time of 6pm London time.

As before this lecture is to raise funds for various charities. In Britain, I’m asking for a donation to the charity funding foodbanks. All you have to do is send a text to: 70085 with the word Trussell followed by the amount you wish to donate e.g Trussell10 for £10. For those of you in North America I know you’ve found your own charities to donate to.

I look forward to seeing many of you on Monday and, please, pass the invitation on to your friends and family.
