Christopher Wren Churches © Emma Krais 2024-05-07 (1)

Before the Great Fire of London, the City held over one hundred and ten churches within its boundary! Sometimes the buildings sat together, side by side in the small space known as the Square Mile . London life was lived by religious services and rules. Woe betide the citizen who ate meat on a Friday!

Take a walk through the City streets with Emma Krais to discover what remains of the churches and religious institutions after the Great Fire. Some date back to over a thousand years,  many rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren, each one individual in form and character.

Meeting point: By the entrance of St Paul’s tube station

Finish Time and place: London Bridge  after 2.30  or 2.45 hours .
