The Inner Artist is a low pressure, relaxed art class for both those trying to develop their drawing skills as well as those who are complete beginners and interested in finding their artistic side. The classes will cover areas such as proportion, perspective, negative space, use of tone, use of line and other skills which help develop realistic depictions.
This class is open to everyone. All are welcome. No artistic skill is required nor is a background in formal training. Those who have enjoyed drawing in the past and would like to continue to develop their skills are also very welcome. Materials will be provided.
Term 1 will meet on September 22, 29 and October 13 and 20.
The general structure of each class is a demonstration of a set skill and explanation of how to use the materials provided. The majority of the class time will be spent on working on the assigned project while the instructor comes around and works individually with participants. Each class is a self-contained unit focusing on one skill and missing one class won’t leave you behind. Detailed descriptions of missed classes can be emailed out if requested.
Classes will be held at St. Mary’s Church hall in West Kensington. A comfortable location with clean, spacious and heated rooms as well as access to kitchen facilities for tea/coffee.
Term 2 of the drawing class which will commence in November and is listed separately. It will be a continuation of Term 1, however, each term can be taken alone and it is not necessary to attend Term 1 in order to sign up for Term 2.
The instructor, Robyn Lister, has taught this class several times before, most recently at the American Women’s Club of Berkshire and Surrey and has offered to donate all of her proceeds to charities identified by the Volunteer for Charity activity group.
