A festive trip to the heart of Lincoln – a picturesque hidden gem. Built on a hill, this medieval old town boasts charming independent shops and galleries nestled amongst the winding, cobbled streets of The Strait and The Steep Hill. In the evening, the Christmas lights, Lincoln Cathedral and the Lincoln Castle are illuminated. We will take an evening walk to enjoy the lights and can choose to experience a traditional Anglican Evensong in the Cathedral dating from 1072 before having dinner together. On Friday, a tour guide will show us the historic and cultural highlights of the city from 10am- 4pm which will include the 900 year old Norman Castle, Castle Walls, one of the original Magna Carta documents, the imposing Lincoln Cathedral, Bishop’s Palace and Roman ruins, amongst others.

Travel is by direct train- a two-hour journey from King’s Cross station to Lincoln on the London North Eastern Railway (LNER). Please book your train travel yourself to arrive by 1:00pm.

We will stay overnight at the White Hart Hotel, a boutique hotel with has been at the heart of the city since the 14th Century. Please email the Activity Leader on [email protected] once you have booked a ticket to obtain information about booking the hotel.

Cost is: £78.00 for the tour and all entry fees.
