Jessica Rose Phillips is a British Labour Party politician who has served in Keir Starmer’s Opposition frontbench as Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding since 2020. Representing Birmingham Yardley since 2015, Ms. Phillips’ advocacy for women’s safety knows no region or district boundaries. Beginning in 2016, she has risen in Parliament every International Women’s Day to read the names and ages of women murdered by men that year.  Believing that “violence against women has no one face,” she has spoken out regularly about the plight of women and girls subject to abuse and the necessity to recognise this as a societal scourge.
An author of three books on women in politics, she has additionally become a major voice urging activism against bullying, online abuse and specifically the violence politically active women face. KCWC is excited to welcome her to our podium to explore the issues compelling Ms. Phillips to speak up and out for women’s safety.
PLEASE Note this GM is being held TUESDAY January 11 not Thursday AND at a new venue for KCWC, the Emmanuel Centre on Marsham Street.
