Jewish Hackney on Zoom

24 November, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

London-boroughs-map-742

Today, the ultra-orthodox community predominates but with its neighbourhood park and numerous synagogues, this talk provides an insight into the early Jewish migration from the East End northwards to Stamford Hill, Dalston and Stoke Newington. Covering community initiatives, past and present, such as maternity homes, schools and social housing associated with communal leaders such as the Bearsted and Schonfeld families there are also memories of shops, social clubs and, of course, Ridley Road Market plus an amazing array of personalities linked to the entertainment world.

Join Rachel Kolsky as she revisits Lockdown Tuesdays and keeps us entertained as we stay home once again. Or to quote Rachel:

“The morning time remains the same … if it is Tuesday and 11.00am it must be a RACHEL ZOOM!”
