Know Before You Go “Turner’s Modern World”

3 November, 2020 @ 10:45 am - 1:00 pm

Turner

One of Britain’s greatest artists, JMW Turner lived and worked at the peak of the industrial revolution. Steam replaced sail; machines replaced manpower; political and social reforms transformed society.
Many artists ignored these advances but Turner faced up to the new challenges. This landmark exhibition at Tate Britain (28 October 2020 – 7 March 2021) shows how he transformed his painting to better capture this new world.  Dr David Bellingham will present an exciting new perspective on Turner’s work and life.

We have arranged a later start time – 10:45 am – to avoid conflict with commuters. We’ll break for coffee/tea at 11:45 and plan to finish around 1:00 pm.

Please note, we will be taking precautions to ensure safe social distancing.  Face masks must be worn and the lecture will be limited to fewer people than usual, so please register early!  Your temperature will be taken as you enter and you will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided.
