This is a fascinating lecture by Janet Gough OBE about the legacy of Sir Christopher Wren on the 300th anniversary of his death. We shall join this large event, which is held by University of Virginia Club of London of which Janet is an alumni.
After the Great Fire of London of 1666, Wren rebuilt with great variety and ingenuity 50 of the City of London’s parish churches that had burned down in the tragedy. He created works of architectural genius such as his domes and the geometrical staircase found in St.Paul’s Cathedral and with his designs established the great 18th century metropolis of London.
Janet has written 3 books on cathedrals and cathedral treasures. She regularly lectures at the V&A and formerly worked in the City and at Sotherby’s.
Please register to hear this wonderful lecture at The Lansdowne Club, where drinks will be served afterwards.
