This time we explore the history of much loved shops including the magnificent Kensington trio of Barkers, Pontings and Derry & Toms, the latter most famous for Biba and the roof-top gardens, Liberty’s with its mock Tudor fascia and iconic prints, Gamages in Holborn famous for its toy and magic departments, Simpsons of Piccadilly home of Daks Slacks and the Army & Navy Stores in Victoria, originally a 19th century store for the military and civil servants.
