Women Textile Designers – A Tea Time Talk with Ashley Gray

8 March, 2022 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

March is the month to celebrate women with International Women’s Day a date on the calendar. At Antiques and Design, we thought this would be a great opportunity then to explore women in textile design. No one is a greater authority than specialist Ashley Gray, owner of Gray M.C.A, a gallery sourcing the rarest and most important examples of early 20th century to modern day artist textiles. Fabrics are a vital ingredient in the story of contemporary art and female designers have played a pivotal role in their design and manufacture worldwide. Be it Liberty, Heal Fabrics, Sanderson and Son in the UK,  Bloomcraft and Fuller Fabrics in the USA, or Wiener Werkstatte from Vienna, textiles are literally the fabric of design.

It is a privilege to welcome Ashley Gray who is a pioneer in the specialist art field of textile as well as original fashion illustration recognising both as art forms worthy of a gallery all their own. We are grateful to the BADA Friends Trust for this invitation.
