President's Letter July/August 2018

Thursday 21 June

As another kcwc year draws to an end, I would like to pay tribute to the many women who have made kcwc the special club that it is. Thank you to the founders of the club who started this wonderful organisation 35 years ago. What an accomplishment to have created this very special place where women from all over the world can come, make friends and enjoy the best of what London has to offer.

I also would like to say a special thank you to our Board members who have worked so hard this past year with brilliancy and solidarity. It has been a privilege and honour to serve along Vice President Marianna Aslamazyan, Activity Leader Liaison Elena Wehrenberg, Newsletter Manager Claudia Marchetti, Treasurer Theresa Klassen, Membership and Hospitality Coordinator Ava Alawi, eCommunications Manager Florine Clomegah, Marketing Manager Alison Power and Events Manager Samantha Barney. Thank you so much ladies for your support and for dedicating so much time and effort to kcwc. I’m sure all members will join me in acknowledging your contribution.

The line-up of guest speakers at our General Meetings this past year was truly exceptional. I was honoured by the presence of the likes of Dr. David Hamilton, CNN correspondent Clarissa Ward, explorer Ben Fogle, The Queen’s Six, Michelin star chef Marcus Wareing, Writer and journalist Natasha Fraser, fashion stylist and former British Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife Samantha Cameron, disability rights activist Carolina Bonfiglio, tennis star Judy Murray and Oscar-nominated film producer Ivan Mactaggart.

Among the current Board’s main projects this past year was a full historical financial review of the club. This was undertaken by independent auditors in an effort to bring our accounts to order as well as to obtain recommendations to improve our accounting procedures and systems. Furthermore, we have updated our policies to comply with the new GDPR legislation.

A special thank you to all volunteers who have helped the Board during this past year: Susan Jahanshahi, Susanne Schulz, Jo Clarke, Emine Clark, Bee Robb, Gilly O’Sullivan, Anne Wine, Kalpa Rao and all the ladies in our Hospitality team. A special thank you to all Activity Leaders who make kcwc so special. Without all of you, none of this would be possible.

I also would like to take this opportunity to salute and congratulate the incoming 2018–2019 Board and the new President Theresa Klassen. I wish them much success as they start their journey together. May you be blessed with a very successful tenure and may kcwc thrive under your leadership.

Last but not least, I would like to thank all kcwc members for their support and loveliness. Thank you, ladies, for joining our club and I hope you continue to make lasting friendships as well as enjoy the many activities that our club has to offer.

On my part, I look forward to more time to enjoy our wonderful activities. It has been a true honour to serve kcwc as a volunteer. I feel humbled and blessed to have known so many wonderful women during this lovely journey. Thank you for your enduring support.

My very best wishes to all,

Catia Dal Poz
