President's Letter May/June 2018

Tuesday 17 April

Spring is well under way and the end of another kcwc year is fast approaching. As the days get longer and we enjoy the warmer weather, our volunteers are busy organising many activities and special events to fill our calendar. I cannot help but say that I love this time of the year as London becomes even more vibrant with outdoor activities and fun things to do.

Please take some time to visit our website and browse the upcoming kcwc events as tickets sometimes can go quickly and the best way to stay informed is to browse our online listings. We also send regular eNews and our Activity Leaders are always keen to keep you informed of what’s in store.

In May 2018, the UK will see a comprehensive change in its Data Protection legislation when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force. The kcwc Board is working hard with legal advisors so we are prepared and compliant by the date required. We will be communicating with our members in due course about any changes that might affect your membership.

I would like to invite you and your friends to our two last General Meetings of the year. On 10 May we will have a fantastic General Meeting at the Royal Geographical Society with guest speaker Judy Murray. She will share her fascinating life story of overcoming obstacles while supporting her two sons Jamie and Andy Murray in becoming successful tennis players and fighting to improve the work conditions for female athletes.

On 7 June, we will celebrate the club’s 35th anniversary and the end of the kcwc year with a very special General Meeting at BAFTA where we will pay a tribute to British film, followed by an exciting celebratory luncheon with a few surprises. We are finalising all details of this event which will be announced soon so stay tuned!

I would like to thank all volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to kcwc. Many thanks also to my fellow Board members Marianna Aslamazyan, Elena Wehrenberg, Ava Alawi, Claudia Marchetti, Theresa Klassen, Samantha Barney and Florine Clomegah for their hard work and continuous support. Last but not least a special thanks to our Members for choosing kcwc as their preferred women’s club in London.

I wish all of you a great spring season and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes,

Catia Dal Poz
