I am delighted to be able to introduce KCWC members to Conor Deasy, a furniture restorer with the Royal Collection Trust who is offering this illustrated talk. Conor is based in the Marlborough House workshops alongside gilders, metal workers, paint restorers and other gifted craftspeople as part of a team that conserves the furniture and decorative arts from the Royal Collection. So he is perfectly suited, using interesting historical furniture, objets d’arts and excitedly some lesser known treasures from the Royal residences, to tell the story of the evolution of those interiors and how the Conservation Workshops function.

Conor is a native of Ireland where he trained in furniture conservation and restoration before relocating to the UK to work in his specialty area for John Lloyd Fine Furniture in East Sussex. Prior to his posting in Marlborough House, he worked for two years as an on-site conservator at Buckingham Palace. He has a BA Hons in History and a Diploma in Art and Decorative Arts History. He is an active member of BAFRA which is the British Antique Furniture Restorers’ Association, as well as the Furniture History Association. He also belongs to the prestigious London Library and the Irish Georgian Society where I met him requesting that he speak to KCWC.

Please join us for this rare opportunity to get a peak inside how decorative arts restoration works from a specialist in the “tools of the trade” who is proudly applying his skills to the prestigious conservations rooms of the Royal Collection Trust.
