Contemporary Art historian Marie-Anne Mancio returns to our Zoom screens with the fourth in our series of Tea Time Talks. This time she features an introduction to the exiled White Russian artist Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980), who captured 1930s fashionable Parisian society in an Art Deco style renowned for its chic elegant sensuality. Specialising in stylised portraiture capturing opulent textures and flattering light, Lempicka often modeled herself in clothes by Coco Chanel.
Living and working on the bisexual fringes of a hedonistic lascivious society, de Lempicka glorified a world ruled by little other than the demands of fashionable entertainment. Join us for this exciting exploration into the work of two female style trailblazers.
Marie-Anne Mancio has a doctorate in contemporary art and is a freelance art historian and lecturer at many venues in London. We are delighted to welcome her back to KCWC.
