Join us for a bespoke tour of Benjamin Franklin’s home in London, covering both the architecture of the house along with the fascinating history of Franklin’s long residence there, from 1757 to 1775. Located near Trafalgar Square, the house went through a comprehensive conservation project saving it from dereliction. This tour will explore the Georgian features of Benjamin Franklin’s house, and offer a unique view of life in Georgian London. The Hewson Anatomy School is included in the tour. Interestingly, this is the only surviving home of Benjamin Franklin in the world.
Attendees must be confident on stairs as the Benjamin Franklin House is a five-storey townhouse with a staircase between each floor. The floors and stairs are uneven and sloping.
The tour is expected to take less than an hour, so following our visit, those who are interested can join us for a chat and a coffee (at their own expense) in the Charing Cross area. The location of the coffee house will be confirmed prior to the date.
