Emery Walker’s House and Hogarth’s House with Mulberry Garden

11 June @ 11:00 am - 3:30 pm

Join us for this double barrel visit at the kind invitation of BADA Friends. Our first stop will be the Emery Walker House beside the River Thames for a private guided visit of this Hammersmith property. Reputed to be the most complete Arts and Crafts interior in the UK, the Walker family moved there in 1903. Emery Walker was a great friend of William Morris so it is little surprise to find hand blocked Morris wallpapers and other notable decorative arts reflecting his influence. A private home until 1999, access was limited so this is a real privilege to visit the interiors now.
After lunch at any of a number of nearby pubs of your choice, we will reconvene at 14:00 at the home of painter and engraver William Hogarth. There at the home he occupied from 1749 until his death, you can enjoy a self guided visit of the house and the famed newly restored walled mulberry garden.
