Know Before You Go: The Rossettis-Part 2

17 May, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Unknown-4

The Rossettis exhibition at Tate Britain offers an exciting opportunity to examine the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti and key figures within his circle including his sister, Christina. The exhibition’s inclusion of photography, poetry and drawings alongside paintings provides new and fascinating insights into the Victorian avant-garde.

In the second session we will discuss Elizabeth Siddal, the model for Millais’ painting of Ophelia, who was an artist in her own right. Exploring Siddal’s work, as well as considering the contributions of Fanny Cornforth and Jane Morris amongst others, we will discuss the impact of the Rossettis and the key themes within the exhibition.

You are welcome at the East India Club beginning at 9:30 for a 10am start.  We will have a coffee break in the middle and aim to finish by 12:15.

We are very happy to welcome back one of our favourite lecturers, Jo Rhymer.
