Part Two of a Two-Part Series on Modern Design.

In our second lecture in this series, we will look at the luxury tradition of early 20th century interiors as reflected in the work of Paris designers. Based on the powerful tradition of 18th century design, mixed with the spice of Surrealism, the Art Deco style has become renowned for its deluxe “take” on Modernism. Other Paris-based designers, such as Eileen Gray and LeCorbusier, stood apart from the Art Deco group but created luxurious modernist furnishings. We welcome back Megan Aldrich, decorative art historian, to lead us on this series.

We have arranged a later start time – 10:45 am – to avoid any conflict with commuters.  We’ll break for coffee/tea at 11:45 and plan to finish around 1:00 pm.

Please note, we will be taking precautions to ensure safe social distancing.  Face masks must be worn and the lecture will be limited to fewer people than usual, so please register early!  Your temperature will be taken as you enter and you will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided.
