The 1950s witnessed amazing shifts for womens’ lives. Household appliances saved time and effort and many began to burst through the glass ceiling becoming successful lawyers, architects and TV producers. Alongside, the less salubrious world inhabited by many young girls in the ‘big City’ was chronicled by contemporary films and novels. This talk will profile their different worlds.
