KCWC is excited Francesca Cartier Brickell, author of “The Cartiers: The Untold Story of the Family Behind the Jewellery Empire”  will address us via Zoom from her French home.  Ms. Cartier-Brickell has spoken worldwide about her family’s history in sold-out lectures at the V&A Museum and through webinars from Melbourne to Mumbai.  We are thrilled she has accepted our invitation to share the captivating story of the family behind the famed Cartier empire as retold in her bestselling book, 100 signed copies of which are available via the KCWC website (see Posts for your easy purchase direct link to Daunt books).

At the heart of the jewellery dynasty are three Cartier brothers, Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, whose motto was “Never Copy, Only Create.”  Together they revolutionised the design, cut and sale of gemstones into some of the most iconic jewellery worn by the most famous names.  Her late grandfather, Jean-Jacques Cartier, was the last of the family to own and manage a branch of the firm founded in 1847.  Join us to hear how an impromptu discovery, while searching for a bottle of champagne in her grandfather’s basement, revealed a treasure trove of long-lost family archives on which her book is based.
