Spanish Conversation: King’s Cross Tour
17 June, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
For our first outdoor activity this year (this sounds surreal!), we have planned a guided tour in Spanish with Maria Luz Gartner (Blue Badge Guide) to one of London’s fastest changing areas in recent years. Kings Cross is one of the biggest and most celebrated developments in London. Its combination of historic and modern buildings organised in new streets, parks and squares made this project fundamental for the future development of the City. We will learn, from a historic perspective, about the boom of the Victorian train stations and the importance of the canals in the development of the industrial revolution. Then, we will be surprised with the spectacular transformation of once-neglected buildings into modern shops, restaurants, apartments and even a university.
We hope that you will be happy to meet outside again. For those of you who would like to stay after the tour and have lunch – on your own tab – there are many restaurants to choose from where it is possible to eat outside, weather permitting. We will be following government guidelines for group meetings.
Exact meeting point to be communicated to registered participants nearer to the date.
